January Book Display – Emancipation Proclamation Anniversary
January 1, 1863, Abraham Lincoln, by executive proclamation, called for the freeing of all slaves who lived within the Confederate States upon this date. Slaves from the four Union States were not officially freed until the passage of the 13th Amendment in 1865. Come check out some of our information at the Todd Library.
