Our “In the News” display for this week follows up on the recent increase in Somali pirate attacks in the Gulf of Aden, off the coast of Somalia. Check out our poster from UNOSAT, showing pirate activity last year. UNOSAT is an agency who provides geographical information to the United Nations to help with their work.
Now that the cold weather has arrived and we’ve barricaded ourselves indoors, perhaps we should give some thought to the quality of the air we’ll be breathing for the next several months. Did you know indoor air can be the most polluted air we breathe? Benzene, trichloroethylene, formaldehyde and ammonia are just a few of the toxins we shut in with us when we shut the windows. But just one plant per 100 square feet of living space can improve air quality substantially. Stop by the library’s “Go Green” display to read more–and breathe better today!
December marks the 35th Anniversary of the Endangered Species Act signed first by President Richard Nixon in 1973. Come check out some of the books and articles that the Todd Library has concerning these endangered species. One may catch your interest to do a last minute report for class or just for fun.
