Solar Eclipse in August
August 21, 2017 we will be able to witness a total Solar Eclipse here in Illinois. Come join us at the Todd Library to “read up” on this solar event and then join with others on the campus on Monday the 21st to participate in the Astronomy planned program outside in the plaza north of Collins Hall. 11 AM to 3 PM.
Highest Tsunami in Recorded History Anniversary – July 1958
A tsunami of 1700 feet, higher than the Willis Tower in Chicago, was created by a magnitude 8.3 earthquake on July 9th, 1958. Come check out information, at the Todd Library, on this and other tsunamis that have occurred through out the centuries.
CDC first described the new illness in June 1981 even though the first known death in the developed world was in 1959. About 36.9 million people worldwide are living with HIV/AIDS today while more than 39 million have already died from it. Come check out the library’s June display and be “educated”.
