It’s Cinco de Mayo!

Have you ever wondered about the history of Cinco de Mayo, or “5th of May” celebrations?  Well, 157 years ago, in 1862, a small  band of 4.000 Mexican soldiers held off an attack by the invading French army in Puebla, Mexico.

Following the victory, then-President of Mexico, Benito Juarez, declared the date, May 5, to be a day of celebration, which has been honored in the state of Puebla, Mexico, as well as by Mexican Americans in the U.S. ever since.

For more information on the celebration today in the city of Puebla, Mexico, here is a brief article from TripSavvy.com:  https://www.tripsavvy.com/cinco-de-mayo-in-puebla-1588678
