The actual virus that causes AIDS was identified in 1983 and named in 1985 as Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). The first person to die from this disease in the developed world was in 1959. More than 524,000 Americans have died of AIDS while more than 22 million people worldwide. At the present time, about 40 million people worldwide are living with HIV/AIDS. To bring more knowledge and understanding of AIDS/HIV, the Todd Library will have a book display focusing on this subject.  Come in and check out items or use our online resources  to find our electronic books.
