It’s Cinco de Mayo!

Have you ever wondered about the history of Cinco de Mayo, or “5th of May” celebrations?  Well, 157 years ago, in 1862, a small  band of 4.000 Mexican soldiers held off an attack by the invading French army in Puebla, Mexico.

Following the victory, then-President of Mexico, Benito Juarez, declared the date, May 5, to be a day of celebration, which has been honored in the state of Puebla, Mexico, as well as by Mexican Americans in the U.S. ever since.
