April is also National Poetry Month – please join us at Todd Library in Sugar Grove on Thursday, April 18 from 7-8:30 p.m. for Poetry Out Loud!\u00a0 Read a poem of your own or that of a favorite poet.\u00a0 Light refreshments will be provided.\u00a0 All are welcome!<\/p>\n

Until then, here are the first seven lines of T.S. Eliot’s 1922 modernist poem, “The Waste Land,” perhaps the most famous mention of April in poetry:<\/p>\n

April is the cruellest month, breeding<\/div>\n
Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing<\/div>\n
Memory and desire, stirring<\/div>\n
Dull roots with spring rain.<\/div>\n
Winter kept us warm, covering<\/div>\n
