{"id":619,"date":"2009-09-29T11:43:37","date_gmt":"2009-09-29T16:43:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/library.waubonsee.edu\/wordpress\/?p=619"},"modified":"2021-11-27T22:11:48","modified_gmt":"2021-11-28T03:11:48","slug":"e-serials-cleanup-complete","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/library.waubonsee.edu\/wordpress\/2009\/09\/29\/e-serials-cleanup-complete\/","title":{"rendered":"E-serials Cleanup Complete!!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Due to the removal, by publishers,\u00c2\u00a0 of e-journals that were once available through our online databases, our <a href=\"http:\/\/library.waubonsee.edu\/web2\/tramp2.exe\/log_in?setting_key=English\">catalog<\/a> had accumulated a large number of\u00c2\u00a0 &#8220;orphaned&#8221; e-journal records.\u00c2\u00a0 These titles  were previously accessible by way of <a title=\"Ebsco A to Z\" href=\"http:\/\/library.waubonsee.edu\/engine\/81\">Ebsco A to Z<\/a> at the time they were added to our collection, but have since been removed from the A to Z knowledge base primarily due to changes in licensing agreements between publishers and our various vendors.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_633\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-633\" style=\"width: 216px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/library.waubonsee.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/atozlinks3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-633   \" src=\"http:\/\/library.waubonsee.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/atozlinks3-1024x448.jpg\" alt=\"Ebsco A to Z link\" width=\"216\" height=\"97\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-633\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Easily locate full text journals.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Until now there had not been an easy way to monitor the removal of titles from Ebsco A to Z,\u00c2\u00a0 nor to adjust our holdings to accurately reflect the A to Z data as of a given date. Thanks to some Sirsi API magic and\u00c2\u00a0 a series of SQL queries, we are now able to systematically compare our catalog holdings\u00c2\u00a0 with the A to Z knowledge base and update our local holdings accordingly.\u00c2\u00a0 What does this mean to library users? No more dead e-journal records!\u00c2\u00a0 If a journal record exists in our catalog, then it can be accessed through the Todd Library.
