These have always been hard subjects, and the Internet has made them harder still, because the thing that triggers copyright rules \u00e2\u20ac\u201c copying \u00e2\u20ac\u201c is an intrinsic part of the functioning of the Internet and computers. There\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s really no such thing as \u00e2\u20ac\u02dc\u00e2\u20ac\u02dcloading\u00e2\u20ac\u2122\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 a web-page \u00e2\u20ac\u201c you make a copy of it. There\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s really no such thing as \u00e2\u20ac\u02dc\u00e2\u20ac\u02dcreading\u00e2\u20ac\u2122\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 a file off a hard-drive \u00e2\u20ac\u201c you <em>copy<\/em> it into memory.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>But a funny thing happened on the way to the 21st century: copyright policy ceased to exist.
