Anniversary of Soviet Troop Withdrawal from Afghanistan – 1989

The USSR’s target of withdrawal of all Soviet troops from Afghanistan by this date was essentially met, ending more than nine years of intervention in a civil war. Check out some of the “future” developments of the country afterwards through the WCC Library Collection.

January Book Display

January is “National Poverty In America Awareness Month”

This month is dedicated to promoting public awareness of the continuing existence of poverty and social injustice in America. Individuals are encouraged to support efforts to eradicate poverty by increasing their understanding of the causes and practical solutions. People are also encouraged to actively participate in and support antipoverty programs. Come join us in the Todd Library and learn more about this most critical condition in our society.

Native American Heritage Month

What started at the turn of the century as an effort to gain a day of recognition for the significant contributions the first Americans made to the establishment and growth of the U. S. has resulted in a whole month being designated for that purpose. Come join us at the Todd Library to celebrate this month’s Book Display with some of our Native American collection.

Even though we are now getting into Football season, there are a few great Baseball moments in History as well that occurred in the Month of October. Come check them out at the Todd Library’s monthly display. Babe Ruth Calls his Shot, World Series 1932, Maris breaks Ruth’s Home Run Record 1961, Robinson named Baseball’s 1st Black Major League Manager 1974,and Bonds breaks season Home Run record 2001.
