Highest Tsunami in Recorded History Anniversary – July 1958
A tsunami of 1700 feet, higher than the Willis Tower in Chicago, was created by a magnitude 8.3 earthquake on July 9th, 1958. Come check out information, at the Todd Library, on this and other tsunamis that have occurred through out the centuries.
CDC first described the new illness in June 1981 even though the first known death in the developed world was in 1959. Anniversary of when the Dalai Lama was forced to flee Tibet
Tibetans suffered under China’s persecution of Buddhism and after years of scattered protest, a full-scale revolt broke out in 1959. The Dalai Lama was granted political asylum in India.
