What is an Abstract?
An abstract is a brief summary of the article. Abstracts are useful in evaluating whether to go to the next step of getting the entire article. Article databases vary in the length and level of abstract they provide.
For example, this is the citation information and abstract for one of the articles on endangered species we found in Academic Search Premier:
- Title: The Billionaire Conservationist.
