If one is looking for a manual full of colorful visual examples, templates, and Content Management System (CMS) hints and tips, this is not the book to use. Instead, this work focuses on teaching coding and effective web design through HTML5, CSS, and PHP, with minimal use of JavaScript functions. While remaining easily adaptable, coding gives one greater control over maintained web pages than is possible through a CMS. Through short project-intensive chapters that build on each other and provide immediate feedback, the reader is shown how to create hyperlinks, templates, menus, rollover buttons, tiles, tables, and feedback and order forms. The book also illustrates how to configure graphics and optimize a web page for search engines and mobile devices, as well as register, validate, and migrate the site. Clear language and an easy pace make learning both understandable and economical. In addition to following the book's clear instructions, the reader can download the source code for each chapter through the publisher's website. Aimed at the absolute beginner, the exercises require only basic computer knowledge to work toward creating as sophisticated a website as one desires.
