The fourth edition of this dictionary (3rd ed., A Dictionary of Earth Sciences, CH, Nov'08, 46-1241) comes with a slight title change and the addition of 150 entries. The addition of Geology to the title reflects a larger number of entries in this area, in a work that offers more than 7,500 entries overall. The compact paperback format still includes a shaded book edge to indicate progress through the alphabet and aid quick page flipping. Each entry is concisely presented, easily understood, and accompanied by diagrams, charts, or cross-references where relevant. Similar to the previous editions, the appendixes include "a revised geological time scale, an updated bibliography, stratigraphic units, lunar and Martian time scales, wind-strength scales, and SI units." In addition to continuing to provide recommended web links to existing entries , this volume includes an appendix devoted to satellite mission web links, cross-referenced with the entries.
